Sheyla Hershey Without Record-Breaking Breast Implants

HOUSTON - Only a few months earlier, Sheyla Hershey was fighting for her life. Once the world record holder for the largest breast implants, Hershey suffered from a potentially-fatal infection that formed around her breast implants. She had to have those world record-breaking implants removed during this tough health situation. As the new year begins, Hershey is recovering well and planning the next chapter in her life.

After considering smaller implants, time has made Hershey realize how much she misses the larger ones. That is why she has opted to go back to her record-breaking size.

Hershey spent hours visiting her doctor and underwent both intravenous antibiotic therapy and several surgical procedures because of the infection. She says she is physically much better now, but not as fulfilled, as she would like to be.

"I'm not as happy as I used to be, but I'm trying to accept myself for who I am, not just behind two big breast implants."

Hershey has transformed into a brunette bombshell, however, it is her former appearance she years for.

"I'm ready to get my breasts back and take my life back!," says Hershey.

She explains to FOX 26 News how she has been savoring the joys of motherhood and has leaed a lot about being a housewife during the last several months. Now, she wants to share what she has leaed along the way with others.

"I'm setting up a website. It's sheylahershey.tv and I'm going to have my own store there; sell stuff and I'm writing a blog about beauty tips and show housewives how you can be pretty behind the counter top," says Hershey.

While Hershey is working on her new career, she will also be trying to stretch her breast tissue. She wants to regain 3500 CCs of saline in each implant, though that is against the law in Texas.

"In Texas, the law is 1000 CCs. I do not have the skin. We are going to stretch slowly, and it's going to take 5, 6 months to a year to get the size back," explains Hershey. She plans to undergo surgery for the implants in the U.S. and then get the rest of the saline in her homeland of Brazil.

Hershey says many people around the Houston area question her need for more surgery, but most do not raise their eyebrows in her homeland of Brazil, which is well known for "nips and tucks."

In 2000, Brazil had the largest rates of plastic surgery on a per capita basis, taking the lead from the U.S. They still lead the way in the number of some plastic surgery procedures today, but the overall largest number has gone back to the U.S., then China, then Brazil.

FOX News Channel medical expert Dr. Manny Alvarez has interviewed people from Hershey's native  country who say, "It's more important to be perfect than to be natural, in Brazil!" It is definitely the "open" attitude of many women in South America. 90 percent of the models in Colombia admit to undergoing surgery to get breast implants.

Throughout Hershey's next phase of plastic surgery, she plans to keep working on her biography and will soon shoot a documentary about the ups and downs of her jouey. She says she feels "the downs" will be over and her life complete when she regains her implants.
