Powerball Jackpot Hits a Record $675 Million
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday's drawing will be the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history, after there was no winner of the $500 million jackpot Wednesday night. Lottery officials say no one matched all of the winning numbers: 2, 11, 47, 62 and 63, and the Powerball, 17.
Saturday's jackpot now stands at $675 million. The previous record was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot in 2012.
There were 13 million dollar winners on Wednesday, matching five numbers without the Powerball. One of those winning tickets was sold in Georgia.
Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
