Police: Children hurt in street racing crash
Police: Street-racing car hits kids, slams into church

Atlanta police say two children are hospitalized after being hit by a suspected street racer late Monday night.

According to officers, a group of children were sitting on the steps of the Perfect Church at the Southwest Atlanta intersection of McDaniel and Ralph David Abeathy, using the building's WiFi.

Police say around 10:45 p.m., a red Camaro and black Dodge Charger came racing south on McDaniel St. The Camaro driver lost control and plowed into the kids. Police say the driver then got out, carrying a gun.  He jumped into the Charger, which sped away.

Paramedics rushed a 15-year-old and 7-year-old to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston. At last check both were in stable condition.

Detectives towed away the Camaro, hoping it'll help lead them to the driver.
