Plane crash-lands on man, injures daughter in Florida
A MAN is dead and his young daughter is fighting for her life after a plane crash-landed on a popular beach.
The father and daughter were walking along Caspersen Beach in Venice, Florida, when a plane was forced to make a dramatic landing on shore.
The man died at the scene while his daughter was flown to hospital while a woman who was with them was being treated for cardiac arrest.
The girl remains in a critical condition and is being treated at All Children’s Hospital in St Petersburg, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was taken to Venice Regional Hospital, The Herald-Tribune reported.
The pilot and passenger were uninjured and the National Transport Safety Bureau is currently investigating the tragic accident.
Police said authorities received a call about a plane in distress and the pilot was instructed to land at Venice Municipal Airport.

But the plane was too large to land so was advised to land on shore.
“The pilot was going to try to land on the beach,” police said.
“The pilot of the 1972 Piper Cherokee and his passenger have been rescued and were uninjured. “A man and one of his children who were walking on the beach were apparently injured by the plane.”
It remains unclear if the father and daughter were hit by the plane or debris.
Caspersen Beach has been ranked as the third best tourist attraction in Venice by travel site Trip Advisor.
The plane came down at the southe end of the beach, which is popular with families.
