Pediatrician Todd Parrilla ADMITS possessing over 100,000 images and videos of child pornography
Guilty: Pediatrician Todd Parrilla, who had a practice in Pawcatuck has been charged with possessing and sharing images and videos of child pornography

A pediatrician has admitted possessing hundreds of thousands of images and videos of child poography.

Todd Parrilla, 48, had a practice in Pawcatuck in south-easte Connecticut at the time of the arrest in August last year.

He pleaded guilty to the receipt and distribution of child poography.

The disturbing pictures and film included images of boys under the age of 12 engaging in sexually-explicit conduct, reports Associated Press.

Some of the material portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence, said prosecutors.

'This defendant possessed and distributed tens of thousands of images and videos portraying the sexual abuse of children,' said attoey David Fein.

'This is a heinous crime. That it was committed by a pediatrician, whose profession is committed to the wellbeing of children, makes it especially disturbing.'

An undercover FBI officer in Kansas City, Missouri, logged into a publicly-available inteet file sharing program and downloaded 104 images of child poography from a shared directory maintained by Parrilla.

He was arrested last August following the execution of a search and seizure warrant at his home.

Prosecutors say an analysis of the seized computers and hard drives revealed more than 100,000 images and more than 10,000 videos depicting child poography.

Parrilla was the managing partner of Weston Pediatrics and also owns the building that houses the medical offices.

Last year, at the time of his initial arrest, the Stonington-Mystic Patch reported that he treated half of the 4,000 patients the clinic serves.

He has been released on a bond under strict supervision by the U.S. Probation Office and faces a minimum life sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on October 24.
