Orlando gunman's father blames nightclub for shooting
Seddique Mateen, the father of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, ha suggested that the shooting at the Pulse Nightclub could have been prevented if they had better security.
His claims come after a survivor of the devastating attack recounted shocking details of the shooter’s behaviour as he shot and killed 49 people.
Norman Casiano said that he had attempted to escape in a bathroom after the killers rampage had begun, but was found by the shooter along with 20 – 30 others.
Casiano said one man collapsed in front of the stall door, bleeding and begging to be let in. But “the door wouldn’t open because there’s bodies piled up,”
He described how the gunman laughed after shooting the man, saying it was a “laugh of satisfaction.” Casiano said that people had pleaded with the gunman to not shoot but that only “enticed him to do it more”. The shooter then put his hand over the stall and started to shoot the people inside it with a handgun.
Casiano suffered four gunshot wounds before he was able to escape and receive help from the police. He was the only one among those who sought refuge in the bathroom that survived.
