A POLICE officer has been caught on camera knocking out a teenager he suspected of smoking marijuana.

Police said the plainclothes officer stopped 17-year-old Marcel Hamer in Brooklyn, New York, on June 4, believing the teen was smoking pot.

The video showed Hamer lying on his back, shouting in pain with the cop’s left foot on his stomach.

The teen pleaded with the cop, saying he wasn’t smoking marijuana.

“You wanna get f****d up?” the cop threatened.

“Mister, it was just a cigarette, sir,” Hamer said. “It was just a cigarette.”

While the cop’s knockout strike is not captured on camera, the sound of the punch was clearly audible and Hamer’s friends could be heard protesting.

“Yeah, get it on film,” the cop barked to a bystander, as he tried to handcuff unresponsive Hamer.

“You knocked him out! He knocked Marcel out!” one of the teen’s friends shouted.

The Brooklyn Paper reported the NYPD’s Inteal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident and would not identify the officer.

Hamer was charged with misdemeanour disorderly conduct and pleaded guilty to a violation.

However the teen’s family is now suing the NYPD, claiming Hamer suffered headaches, dizziness and memory loss as a result of the attack.
