Nasa’s Antares rocket has exploded seconds after lift-off from a commercial launch pad in Virginia, USA.

The 14-story rocket, built and launched by Orbital Sciences Corp, bolted off its seaside launch pad at the Wallops Flight Facility earlier today.

It exploded seconds later. The cause of the accident was not immediately available but it was revealed no-one was hurt.

‘A mishap has occurred. We have lost the vehicle,’ Nasa said.

‘It is believed the damage has been contained to the facility.’

The rocket was travelling to the Inteational Space Station.
