Mom Accused Of Leaving 5 Young Kids Home Alone
PITTSBURGH -- A Lawrenceville woman is facing charges after police said she left five children home alone.
Police got an anonymous phone call tipping them off that the children were by themselves at a house on Holmes Street late Sunday night. The children range in age from 1 to 7 years old.
When police showed up at about midnight, the children told them they had been alone since 10 p.m., saying their mother left a cell phone to call her in case they needed her.
However, the mother said she was only gone 15 minutes and had left to pick up her boyfriend.
Police identified the woman as 32-year-old Sharon Trembulak. She was charged with five counts of child endangerment.
The children's father told Channel 11's Renee Kaminski that the children are fine and are staying with him. He said they are healthy and happy kids, but that he's angry at the situation. He said he has tried to seek custody in the past and will continue to so.
