Michigan shooting: Multiple deaths after gunman Larry Gordon opens fire in Berrien County courthouse
THREE people have been killed in a shooting at a courthouse in the US state of Michigan, which has also injured a police officer.
Local media in Michigan said the deaths occurred at Berrien County Courthouse in the town of St Joseph, in southwest Michigan, about 2.30pm on Monday.
ABC 13 said a man being taken to prison grabbed a deputy’s gun and started shooting.
Two of the dead were court bailiffs and the shooter was the third, the television station reported.
Michigan Goveor Rick Snyder said on Twitter that police “secured the scene at the Berrien County courthouse and started its investigation into the shooting that occurred this afteoon”.
The police officer received non-life threatening injuries to the leg and hand.

It’s believed the shootings occurred inside the courtroom on the third floor.
“I stand here with a heavy heart. A person has shot two bailiffs. They’re both deceased,” Sheriff Paul Bailey told reporters.
Other people in the area of the shooting sought shelter before “brave officers were able to come to their rescue and take the shooter down,” the sheriff said. He didn’t elaborate.
Bailey said he felt “terrible” about the deaths.
A witness, Gretta Volkenstein, told CNN that buildings and govement agencies in the area were all on lockdown
Chris Gautz, public information officer for the Michigan Department of Corrections, tweeted that all Department of Corrections staff are safe and accounted for.
