Michigan gunman is an Uber driver ‘who picked up passengers between shootings

Uber have confirmed the man arrested in connection with the Michigan shooting is one of their drivers.

Jason Dalton, the 45-year-old man who’s currently being question by officers following the fatal shooting of six people in Kalamazoo, allegedly picked up Uber customers in the five-hour span of the shootings.

A woman called Mackenzie Waite shared a picture of Dalton with the waing: ‘Attention Kzoo peeps. This Uber driver named Jason drives a silver Chevy Equinox is NOT a safe ride.’

Ms Waite and her fiance got in his car and she claimed despite pleading with him to slow down he refused.

She added: ‘This man proceeded to drive 80mph down West Main swerving in and out of oncoming traffic.’

Confirming that Dalton worked for the firm, Joe Sullivan, Chief Security Officer at Uber, told reporters ‘We are horrified and heartbroken at the senseless violence in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

‘Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this devastating crime and those recovering from injuries.

‘We have reached out to the police to help with their investigation in any way that we can.’

It’s reported that eight people were shot over a five-hour gun spree. Six were fatally wounded.

Police said a 14-year-old girl who had originally been pronounced dead by medical officials is still alive, and remains in a serious condition.

Officers said Dalton has no known criminal history.

And officials are yet to determine any kind of motive behind the killing spree.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said earlier: ‘We seem to be dealing with a worst-case scenario: someone driving around, finding people and shooting them dead in their tracks.

‘I would definitely say it’s a serial killer.’
