A student at Kent State University has been accused of inducing panic after threatening on Twitter to “shoot up” the Ohio campus, which has a history of bloodshed.

Sophomore William Kobea, 19, was arrested Sunday without incident at his parents’ house in Brunswick, Ohio.

“Any threat to our campus community is taken seriously and immediately investigated,” Kent State President Lester Lefton said. “Our students, employees, and all those who come to campus should know that their safety is our top priority.”

Kobea is set to be arraigned Monday on a felony charge of inducing panic and mesdemeanor aggravated menacing.

Cops said he tweeted that he planned to use firearms to “shoot up” the campus.

Lefton said Kobea also faces suspension or dismassal from pending a university hearing.

In May 1970, four unarmed Kent State students protesting the U.S. invasion of Cambodia were shot to death on campus by Ohio National Guard troops. Nine other students were wounded.

Kobea’s arrest came just 10 days after Colorado grad student James Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 58 others at a packed movie theater showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
