Is this the best TV news interview ever? Green-haired Courtney Barnes becomes internet star after describing car crash

When a news channel in Jackson, Mississippi, was sent to cover a local car accident which left a police officer injured, they probably never imagined this would be the result.

Because the eyewitness that described the scene on WLBT-TV was – how shall we put this – one of the more memorable that we’ve seen on the news.

The green-haired, green-taloned man in question – who goes by the name of Courtney Baes – gave a description of the incident that was as colourful as his baet, telling reporters about ‘the horrible, tragic situation’ he had seen.

He went on to explain just how it had affected him, saying: ‘I was on my way to buy a piece of burger from Burger King and I just stopped right in the middle because my hunger just went away.

‘When I seen that accident, I just had to understand that someone was experiencing this difficult moment – ma’am, I just cannot continue to bear to talk.’

But in fact Courtney didn’t stop there, becoming even more animated as he described the accident in graphic detail.

‘This police officer don’t know if his life is going to continue to make it or if he gonna just tap out,’ he explained.

‘It was a full twist-about and the police car just twist around like a toado, girl, and the Lord just shook it up and the man just got injured.’

We don’t know about you, but we’re struggling to keep up.

Fortunately the officer in question is recovering, and was set to be released from hospital on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Courtney has become an inteet sensation, with his interview notching up more than 2m views since it surfaced on WLBT’s Facebook page – and being hailed the TV interview of the year by the Washington Post.

He’s even been busy posting his own coverage of the incident to Instagram:
