Houston mom Rochelle Brown is accused of stabbing her 2-month-old baby to death

Houston police department say they have arrested and charged a woman accused of stabbing her 2-month-old baby to death

According to police, Rochelle Brown, 28, has been charged with capital murder for stabbing her 2-month-old son to death at their apartment on Windmill Lakes Boulevard early Tuesday.

She remains in the Harris County Jail.

HPD Investigator David Stark says there were no witnesses to the stabbing, but neighbors heard screaming and officers responded to a 911 call at the home.

"You could definitely make out a female voice, pounding, stuff hitting the ground real hard," said Kris Atkins, who lives downstairs.

Guillermo Trevino also heard what sounded like a woman in distress.

"She was crying out, saying, 'Please stop,'" Trevino said.

Officers arrived and found the infant dead in the kitchen area; the mom was distraught nearby.

"Just mentally, she seemed a little unstable," said HPD Detective David Stark.

Two other young children, ages 8 and 3, and the mom's sister were home sleeping at the time but were reportedly unharmed.

CPS said the family just moved to Texas a few weeks ago and they were living with the sister.

Levi's pateal grandma, Felicia Thoton, issued the following statement:

"Levi was a beautiful baby, who was loved by his father. We are disappointed he won't be able to grow. She (Rochelle) stole our memories, she hurt us. Levi was loved and is now in the arms of the Lord. It doesn't take away the pain. But in the short time he was here, he was very much love."
