NORMALLY a dry and baron place, the Grand Canyon in America was spectacularly covered in snow on New Year’s Day, tuing the desert into a snowy wonderland.

While the snow in the canyon was a sight to behold, road closures resulted in many locals and tourists missing out on seeing the spectacle. Luckily, a few managed to snap some great pictures and shared them with others on social media.

The US National Park service also managed to take some great photos, of what they referred to as a “winter wonderland”.

The Grand Canyon has been the centre of a few natural spectacles recently, with the canyon last year being filled with stunning thick fog.
