Girl sensibly calls 911 to report 'massive freaking' spider
Plenty of people dial 911 for non-emergencies — to report a cable outage, for example — but you have to admit that calling to report a huge, horrifying spider is kind of justified. Authorities in Forest Grove, Ore., say a teenage girl called them earlier in August and told the dispatcher "There is a giant spider on the back of my couch, and I mean giant." She estimated the "massive freaking" arachnid was the size of a baseball. One of her family members was recently hospitalized after a spider bite (explaining why she was a little over-cautious), and to her credit she was self-aware enough to describe her inquiry as "a ridiculous question".
A police officer sent to her home found a two-inch spider which was disposed of via a rolled-up newspaper. [Source]
