Girl, five, trapped inside washing machine for minutes in Houston, Texas

A FIVE-year-old girl was taken to hospital after she somehow got trapped inside a running washing machine in Houston, Texas.

Pasadena Police Department in Texas said in a statement that the child “was tumbling pretty fast” for several minutes before a customer noticed at Le’s Washateria laundromat in Houston.

The girl was flown to a hospital in Houston.

Police said that the girl is expected to survive, MyFoxHouston reported.

Police could not say how the girl became trapped inside the machine or how it was started. Police said the laundromat manager told a woman who had tried to use the machine earlier that it was not working correctly and retued her money.

Police said that it appears the girl managed to get inside the machine when the adult woman she was with was not watching.

The laundromat owner says an employee used circuit breakers to stop the machine.

Police investigations are continuing.
