Former science teacher Kelly Miller, 34, sent sexually-explicit photos of herself to 15-year-old student
A former Illinois science teacher plead guilty after being arrested for sending inappropriate pictures of herself to one of her 15-year-old students in 2011.
Kelly Miller, 34, entered her guilty plea Tuesday at a court in Aurora, Illinois on one count of forwarding harmful material to a minor.
Originally Miller was charged with sexual exploitation of a child, but the charges were changed according to a plea deal.
Under the terms of the plea, Miller will be sentenced to 18 months probation and have to undergo counseling.
She will also have to pay $2,400 in fines, undergo a sex offender evaluation and will be barred from unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 for her probation period.
Miller, a former teacher at East Aurora High School, was arrested in September 2011, after authorities found out she sent two sexually explicit photos of herself to a 15-year-old student.
CBS Chicago.com reported that cops were tipped off in September 2011 about the text messages that were sent the previous May.
When she was arrested, police said that they didn't believe any other students were involved and that Miller and the student in question were not involved in a sexual relationship.
Miller tued herself into police after the charges were filed and resigned from her position.
