A student from China who’d come to the U.S. attend the University of Illinois had his image of America forever taished when he was scammed out of more than $4,000. The 18-year-old was at O'Hare Airport outside Chicago, hoping to find a bus to take him to the campus in Urbana-Champaign, about 150 miles south. He was approached by a suspect who told him the bus wasn’t coming for another six hours and offered to drive him to campus for $1,000.

Once there, the driver demanded $4,800. The student tued over all the cash he had — $4,240 — and was so rattled he left his phone in the vehicle. Chicago police are now working with U of I police to find the driver, who just guaranteed himself a date with karma's ugly side. [Source]
