Father jailed for 35 years after raping son's prom date as she slept at family's house after dance
A 67-year-old has been jailed for 35 years after raping his son's prom date when she stayed at their home after the dance.
Ismael Cruz, was found guilty by a jury last month of attacking the 19-year-old girl as she slept at his San Antonio home in May 2012.
The teenager told police she awoke to find she had been partially undressed and that Cruz was on top of her.
When she realized the man assaulting her was her boyfriend's father, the victim screamed for help, according to the San Antonio Express News.
According to court documents, Cruz's son beat him up, and continued to try to attack his father after police arrive.
Cruz, who has been in prison twice before for driving under the influence, said he had more than 60 beers on the night of the rape.
His attoey had asked the state judge for the minimum 25 years but he was sentenced to 35.
