On Monday moing, investigators located Lauren’s car on Parkland Road in Wayland. Three miles away on Water Row Road, police named an area “a serious crime scene,” which is where Lauren’s body was found.
Detectives, police and a medical examiner spent Monday at the Water Row Road crime scene. The Suffolk County District Attoey's office confirmed that they are investigating the suspicious death of a female in the town.
"She was spunky and ferocious with me in a wonderful way," said Malcolm Astley. "A good laugh and a great enjoyer of life."
Neighbors watched police search the nearby wetlands saying they go on for acres.
"It's grown up to be an impenetrable jungle of buttonwood and buttonbush that you just can't get through very easily so it would be quite an effective place to hide something if you were hiding something," neighbor John Emery said.
The investigation continues to determine how Lauren died.
