Ecorse Murder Victim Corry Thomas was Federal Witness
Corry Thomas

ECORSE, Mich. (WJBK) - FOX 2's Simon Shaykhet reports an Ecorse man shot to death last month was just hours away from being placed into a witness protection program.

Thirty-four-year-old Corry Thomas was shot and killed in front of his sister's home on 10th Street on Outer Drive in December.

Shaykhet reports Thomas was busted in 2009 for transporting 600 pounds of marijuana. His plea deal was supposed to place him in witness protection, but he was murdered before he ever got the chance to testify.

Sources say his testimony could have helped put a Detroit drug dealer in prison.

Ecorse police has questioned several people, but have not yet made an arrest.
