Doctor Eric Peper Wanted In 4 Colo. Deaths Is Arrested In Florida
DENVER -- A doctor indicted on charges that he and a co-worker overprescribed painkillers to patients, leading to the deaths of four people, was arrested in Florida on Wednesday.
Eric Peper, 53, was arrested without incident at his Florida home, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Peper and co-worker, Samuel Jahani, were indicted on Aug. 3 on charges of health care fraud, money laundering and dispensing controlled substances in which four cases resulted in death, prosecutors said.
Jahani was arrested Monday night in Texas.
Peper and Jahani ran medical clinics called Urgent Care Inc. in Delta, Montrose and Grand Junction, the Denver Post reported.
