Detroit Radio DJ Jevon Hollywood Struck by Car
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WJBK) - Jevon Hollywood, a popular personality heard on 106.7 The Beat, is in critical condition after he was hit by a car on Seven Mile near Haggerty early Thursday moing.
"The driver did not see the pedestrian crossing the road," said Northville Township Public Safety Director John Werth. "5:13 in the moing, it's very dark out here, dressed in dark clothing, and you would not probably see a person crossing the road at that time."
According to police, alcohol was not a factor for the 61-year-old driver, but was for Jevon, who they say stepped into the roadway. Dark and raining, he may not have seen the car coming.
"He just lives for radio and he loves the Detroit nightlife and he's the hardest working young man I think I've ever met," said 106.7 The Beat personality Lisa Lisa.
Friends say Jevon, who lives in Livonia, may have been walking home from his girlfriend's house. He has a broken leg and pelvis and has been through surgery.
His friends and family are now by his side asking for support.
"He's too young and he's got too good of a spirit, so hopefully everybody can keep him and his sister in their prayers and thoughts and hopefully he'll be back here soon. We need him," Lisa Lisa said.
