THIS is the terrifying moment a man grabbed a woman off the street and dragged her into his car.

Now police hold grave fears for woman, identified as Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, who hasn’t been seen since she was grabbed more than a day ago.

In the footage, Ms Freeland-Gaither is approached by the man and tries to escape during the abduction a street in the Philadelphia suburb of Germantown.

While no sound is heard, according to Philadelphia Police the 22-year-old is clearly yelling for help.

The three-minute video begins with a man parking what appears to be a grey or silver car.

A man then gets out before disappearing briefly out of camera view.

But just seconds later, he appears approaching Ms Freeland-Gaither before chasing and dragging her down the street.

The Philadelphia woman can be seen briefly struggling with the man before she is shoved into the car.

The footage also shows another car on the scene towards the end and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police said her glasses and mobile phone were dropped at the scene and now hold grave fears for her welfare.

Police said the man was driving a grey coloured Ford Taurus and managed to smash the passenger car windows.

“The vehicle is missing inspection stickers and has an unknown item in the centre bottom of the front windshield,” police said.

Officers are hunting a black male who is around 178cm tall, with a medium to heavy build, between 25-30 years-of-age, and wearing dark clothes.

Philadelphia police spokesman Lieutenant John Stanford said he had no doubt she was in danger and they suspect the man may have been watching her before the abduction.

“You can clearly see from the video, he pulls ahead of her and was waiting her out,” Lt Stanford told CBS.

“He spotted her and had all eyes on her.

“Based on how this young lady is fighting, it looks like she’s fighting for her life.”

Meanwhile Ms Freeland-Gaither’s father appealed for the man to let his daughter go.

“Just let my daughter go. Whatever you want, whatever you’re asking for, I’ll give it to you,” he told CBS Philly.

Police don’t believe Ms Freeland-Gaither knows the man.

Her photo is being circulated on social media as the search for her continues.
