California father Kyle Fortunato impaled by glass trying to climb into locked apartment
A Califoia man's attempt to break into his locked apartment tued tragic when he slipped and was impaled by broken glass inside a window, police said.
Locals in Kyle Fortunato's Sacramento neighborhood could see the 28-year-old’s lifeless body hanging out of the kitchen window of his apartment before police arrived on Friday night, local CBS 13 reported.
"It was just a shame what happened to him," one shocked neighbor told the station.
Investigators called the death an accident.
The young father was locked out of his house and was trying to crawl through the window when he fell on some jagged glass and bled to death, authorities said.
The body of Kyle Fortunato was found by his girlfriend, Mariko Laurin, draped over the window sill at their home in Scaramento, Califoia. The 28-year-old who was the father of an 18-month-old girl, and worked as a landscaper had managed to get half way through the ground-floor kitchen window before getting stuck.
Neighbors initially reported hearing gunshots in the area, and some said there were rumors that the young man died during a fight with his girlfriend, KTXL television reported.
A post on Fortunato's Facebook page, apparently written by the girlfriend, Mariko Laurin, shot down the whispers of a fatal lover's quarrel.
"Kyle is no longer with us. I am telling you this, because I don't want you to believe the vicious rumors of the gunshot, or there was a ‘lover's spat’ between us. It was an unfortunate accident that he was taken from us too soon," the post said, according to CBS 13.
Fortunato worked as a landscaper, according to his Facebook page.
He and Laurin had an 18-month-old daughter.
"She loved him and he loved her. They were a family," a female friend, who didn't give her name, told KTXL
