Burger King hostage drama: 'Rapist barricades inside with children in Baltimore
Baltimore police say a 7-year-old is among "about four" hostages at a Burger King after a pursuit of a rape suspect led to a standoff at the restaurant Sunday.
Swarms of police, including a SWAT team, have surrounded the restaurant and police spokesman T.J. Smith said negotiators are trying to resolve the barricade peacefully and quickly.
"Our ultimate goal is end this peacefully for all parties," Smith said at a news conference.
Police were called out at around noon local time to Washington Boulevard, after reports a man had crashed into another car at a junction before running into Burger King gun in hand.
Smith said the driver of the vehicle who was hit by the rape suspect's vehicle is being treated for minor injuries.
