Brighton Man Steven Blaser Charged In Road Rage Case
Steven Blaser

BRIGHTON, Mich. - A 26-year-old man faces felonious assault and malicious destruction of property charges after police said his road rage led him to drive his car into a sports utility vehicle with seven children inside.

Michigan State Police said Steven Blaser purposely drove his Ford Escort into the back of a Cadillac Escalade Monday. Police said the driver of the Escalade was a mother with seven children on board.

Blaser was arraigned Wednesday. He told a judge that he had been seeing a doctor for rage issues for weeks before the accident.

According to police, Blaser got out of his car and banged on the Escalade driver's side window, yelling at the woman, then tearing off the sport utility vehicle's side mirror. The woman called 911 and Brighton police arrested Blaser after finding him in the nearby woods.

"The driver of the Escalade ... was minding her own business," said MSP Cmdr. J.J. Allen. "The vehicle behind her was attempting to pass her in a construction zone, which eventually led to a crash."

Blaser had been in eight previous accidents before the one on Monday. He was being held in jail Wednesday on a $100,000 bond.
