Boston Teen Francis McInerny hit, killed by car in West Roxbury
BOSTON - A 17-year-old was struck and killed by a car Tuesday night in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood.
It happened just after 10 p.m. on VFW Parkway. State Police detectives assigned to Suffolk County District Attoey Daniel F. Conley's office are investigating.
State Police responded to the area of Gardner Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. That pedestrian, later identified as 17-year-old Francis McIney of West Roxbury, was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital with extensive injuries. He was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m.
The preliminary investigation suggests that McIney was one of six young men crossing VFW Parkway. Investigators believe he was struck by a black Acura operated by an adult male, who stopped his vehicle immediately, remained at the scene, and has cooperated with law enforcement.
The preliminary investigation does not suggest the driver was impaired or negligent in his operation of the vehicle. A determination of the vehicle's speed will be made by crash reconstruction experts.
The driver has not been charged and authorities are not releasing his identity at this time.
