Washington DC Navy Yard shooting: Gunman sought after fatalities reported

A gunman is being sought after a policeman was injured and people were reportedly killed at a US Navy building in Washington DC.

Emergency crews are gathered outside Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters where the shooting is reported to have happened.

The US Navy confirmed three shots had been fired in the building, which has 3,000 people working in it.

Employees have been asked to stay where they are as police hunt down the assailant.

The command centre is the Navy’s largest one, with the organisation spending a quarter of its entire budget on it.

Flights have also reportedly been suspended to and from Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C because of the shooting.
