Vigilante receives credit in sexual predator Christopher Scheuermann arrest
A vigilante fed up with online sexual predator is receiving credit after assisting in the arrest of an Oregon man attempting to meet with underage girls that he met online.
According to court records obtained by KPTV Cowlitz County, Washington, deputies have arrested 27- year- old Christopher Ross Scheuermann on Monday after he attempted to meet with a pair of girls, age 12 and 15, for sex.
Scheuermann had reportedly connected with the girls on Whisper, a social media app that allows users to post anonymous messages. The girls, however, didn’t exist. Scheuermann had actually been in contact with Curtis Hart, a member of the so-called “Punisher Squad” who aims to take down men attempting to meet young girls for sex on the inteet.
Hart told KPTV that he “posted a post saying something about being excited for summer vacation and (asking) if any older people wanted to hang out,” He continued saying “This individual responded pretty quickly and he escalated the conversation with inappropriate pictures of himself. Instantly. Within five minutes.”
Scheuermann told Hart that he would drive from St. Helens, Oregon, to meet with the girls on a dead end street.
Hart waited for the man there and confronted him. “I had my window rolled down and I asked him what he was doing back there,” Hart told the TV station. “I had a few choice words for him and he just took off.”
Hart then reported the encounter to police and Scheuermann was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of attempted rape of a child.
