Two Barnstable men face drug trafficking charges

HYANNIS - Bastable police arrested two Cape men Sunday evening for allegedly dealing heroin.

Jimmy Lee Perry, 20, of Hyannis, and Marcus Bennett, 20, of Centerville, were arrested after police stopped them on a moped on Cape Street.

Police found 22 grams of heroin and $5,000 in cash undeeath the moped seat, according to a press release. Police found more then $10,000.

Police suspect both men of dealing drugs in the Fresh Holes Road area of Hyannis.

Bennett and Perry were charged with trafficking heroin and conspiracy to violate the narcotics laws. They are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Bastable District Court.

According to police, Perry was convicted of being in possession of a firearm in January 2010 and served a nine-month jail sentence.

Bennett has two previous possession of cocaine convictions in Bastable District Court. He served a nine-month jail sentence in 2010 on one of the cocaine possession charges.
