Five shot dead and nine wounded at Fort Lauderdale airport
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —
Travelers passing through Florida's Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood Inteational Airport described chaos Friday moing when a person opened fire at a baggage claim.
Witnesses, including former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, said shots were fired just before 1 p.m.
Police told Fleischer five people were injured by a single shooter. However, authorities indicated to multiple news outlets that as many as nine people were injured. five people were killed in the shooting, according to NBC News.
