Prince George's Council Member Leslie Johnson To Plead Guilty on Thursday
Leslie Johnson

WASHINGTON - Prince George’s Council Member Leslie Johnson will plead guilty to federal obstruction of justice charges next Thursday. A plea hearing is scheduled for Johnson at 10 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt.

Johnson is accused of evidence and witness tampering related to the corruption investigation of her husband, former Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson.

They were arrested last November.

Authorities say Leslie Johnson tried to stuff $79,000 into her bra as FBI agents were at the front door of her home. There is also a recording of Leslie Johnson talking to her husband about hiding the cash and flushing a $100,000 check down the toilet.

In May, Jack Johnson pleaded guilty to two felonies, extortion conspiracy and tampering with a witness and with evidence. Each count could carry up to 20 years in prison.

Johnson will be sentenced on September 15.
