Police Cuff Woman Having Diabetic Attack
Revina Garcia needed a hero when she suffered diabetic shock while driving on Paseo Real in Santa Fe, N.M. What she got, unfortunately, were police who thought the disoriented and severely hypoglycemic woman was actually a drunken driver. In this video, see Garcia roughly pushed to the ground and handcuffed after she rear-ended a pickup truck.
Eventually, she was able to "mumble something about being diabetic," according to police, and paramedics were called. Garcia says the cops should have realized she was diabetic because of a large insulin pump clipped to her waistband, and that better education about the condition is needed.
