Oregon couple Ryan Bensen and Erica Manley tip waitress with crystal meth
A waitress was left stunned after a couple left her a tipping envelop filled with crystal meth.
Ryan Bensen, 40, and Erica Manley, 37, had dinner and drinks at the Twisted Fish Steakhouse in Oregon on Thursday night.
When it came time to pay their bill the couple used a gift card and as a tip they handed their waitress an envelop with a question mark scribbled on it.
Inside was a stash of crystal meth, OregonLive reports.
“She was like ‘Whoa - what the …?’” said Steve Keszler, a manager at the downtown steakhouse. “We’re not a little dive bar or hole in the wall. We’re a classy place.”
The waitress walked calmly away and called the police.
Bensen and Manley were still at the restaurant when authorities arrived and found almost half a kilogram of meth in Manley’s purse.
“While I should be shocked and surprised, it’s just another example of how dumb these users and dealers are,” Seaside Police Chief Robert Gross said. “The whole thing almost made me chuckle.”
Police later searched the nearby Holiday Inn Express, where the couple had been staying and discovered a meth lab comprising a small torch, batteries and other items.
Benson was charged with possession and manufacturing methamphetamine, while Manley was charged with possessing, delivering and manufacturing meth.
