No jail for prison teacher Chong-Hwa Chang who got pregnant TWICE by convicted murderer

A state prison teacher who authorities say got knocked up twice by her imprisoned murderer lover will not face any jail time after she joined a courts' pre-trialintervention program.

Chong-Hwa Chang, 42, from Delran, NJ was initially charged with sexual assault in January 2016 after the state Department of Corrections uncovered her ongoing sexual relationship with an inmate, authorities have said.

Prosecutors said Chang admitted in a joual she kept that she had sex more than 20 times with Rashid Walker, 35. She described how she twice became pregnant from the encounters - One of her pregnancies ended in a miscarriage, another an abortion.

Sexually explicit selfies Chang shared with Walker were also found during a search of her home, investigators said.

Chang, who worked as a teacher in the prison, was said to have been close to Walker's family and showered them with gifts.

He is serving 60 years for shooting laundrette manager Javid Patel, 23, during a robbery in 2002 and will not be eligible for parole until 2053.

Chang, who has two other children from a previous relationship, was charged with sexual assault at New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, US, after her arrest last January.

Prosecutors said that although it appeared her relationship with Walker was consensual and he was not one of her students, she was charged because of her supervisory role in the jail.

The pretrial program, referred to as PTI, the diversionary program for first-time offenders with little or no criminal history, the prosecutor's office said. If completed, offenders emerge from the program with no criminal record.

They said Chang agreed to officially forfeit her employment with the corrections department and complete community service.

She had worked at the prison for nearly nine years.

Chang agreed to permanently give up the job as part of the deal with assistant prosecutor Heather Hadley.
