A MUSICIAN furious over being thrown out of a rock band has extracted bloody revenge, using a military-style rifle to shoot dead three of his bandmates before taking his own life, law enforcement sources said.

Gunman Raefe Ahkbar was reportedly kicked out of Iranian rock group The Yellow Dogs for stealing before he slaughtered three of his former friends.

Armed with a Century Sporter .308-caliber semi-automatic weapon with a 20-round magazine, Ahkbar allegedly shot dead the band’s 27-year-old guitarist, Soroush Farazmand, in a second-floor bedroom and then climbed to the third floor where he killed singer Ali Eskandarian, 35, and drummer Arash Farazmand.

He also allegedly shot Sasan Sadeghpourosko, 22, twice in the arm outside the Brooklyn, New York, building just after midnight on Monday EST (4pm Monday AEDT).

The band’s Facebook page identifies other members as guitarist Siavash Karampour and bassist Koory Mirzeai, who were not injured.

The killer angrily confronted one of the bandmates before the shootings, sources said.

"He said something like ‘Why did you bring me over here [from Iran] and then throw me out?’" a source said.

Neighbors were stunned by the caage and had kind words for the band members.

"You always see them coming in and out of their house with their musical instruments in cases. They seemed like great kids, never bothered anybody,"  Martin Greenman, 63, said.

"They resembled each other with the curly black hair and the tight jeans. They looked like typical hipsters."

A neighbour reported hearing multiple gunshots.

"There were 45 shots in succession, they sounded like fireworks going off," Marcus Durant, 56, an electrician who lives nearby, said.

"There were three or four Iranian kids who looked like brothers. They would ride up and down the street on their skateboards and they were generally very pleasant kids."

He fatally shot two people on the first floor and one on the third.

The third floor victim was shot in his bed.

The crazed murderer also fired into a first floor bathroom, where a couple was apparently hiding. They were not injured.

Then he went to the roof of the building and shot himself to death.

The band is made up of Iranians who have been in the country for a while and were seeking asylum here, law enforcement sources.

A neighbor, who identified himself only as Frank, said the building has been hosting boisterous parties.

“During the summer it was ongoing, really loud parties with the street blocked off by gypsy cabs,’’ he said. “It was the usual hipster rave scene.’’

Frank said there are several other party houses in the area.

He described “huge blowout mega party — there must have been as many as 1,000 people” and a DJ on the roof of another area neighborhood building.

That party happened in late summer, he said.

Adding to the chaos in the neighborhood, another man was shot in the leg a few blocks away and was rushed to hospital.

The two shootings were apparently unrelated, police said.
