Sheriff Ronnie Ingram said authorities were alerted about it on Monday. The school system says Hartlieb resigned that same day, according to WITN.

Hartlieb tued herself in Tuesday night and appeared in court Wednesday.

Hartlieb was hired in 2010 and also served as cheerleading advisor.

'A 16-year-old?' asked Amalia Petion, an outraged parent at the school. 'Something's wrong ... I hope she owns up to it and I hope they can get help for the young man.'

Hartlieb bailed out on a $35,000 bond.

This isn't the first time the school has been hit with a sex assault scandal.

In 2013, former band teacher Jennifer Sinclair was arrested for a sexual relationship with a student, according to the outlet.
