Man kills girlfriend with vacuum cleaner

A man allegedly used a vacuum cleaner to beat his girlfriend to death after she refused to have sex with him.

Refugio Sanchez Jr, 32, was charged with second degree murder for beating his girlfriend, Angela Cannizzio, and strangling her to death in their home in Washington this week.

Prosecutors said Sanchez drank a six-pack of beer and a shot of liquor before the attack on Tuesday night, which allegedly began with an argument over Cannizzio’s estranged husband.

After the spat, Sanchez demanded “make-up sex,” according to charging documents cited by Komo News.

When Cannizzio denied him, Sanchez is said to have picked up a vacuum cleaner and began beating her with it.

Sanchez admitted to police that he hit Cannizzio twice with the vacuum before dragging her "like a rag doll" down the stairs to the living room, where he smashed her head into the floor "with great force," Komo reports.

After his arrest on Wendesday moing, Sanchez reportedly told police he was anxious to take a shower, adding "I can't wait to get this out from under my fingeails."

Sanchez, an active member of the US army, said he had been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress disorder after two tours in Afghanistan.

He was arraigned on Thursday and bail was set at $US1 million
