SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- A 27-year-old Maine woman is facing charges she dragged a man through a South Portland restaurant parking lot with her car.

Police say Chaka Coleman of Windham was charged with aggravated assault and other offenses after the Tuesday evening incident.

Witnesses told police that Coleman got into an argument with a man in a parking lot and when the man tried to reach inside the vehicle, Coleman drove away, dragging the man several feet.

The victim, a 29-year-old man from Westbrook, was treated at a hospital for a head injury.

Police Sgt. John Sutton tells the Portland Press Herald a charge of obstructing the report of a crime was added after Coleman allegedly knocked the cellphone out of the hands of a witness, who tried to call police.
