A man and his wife of seven years were killed after their vehicles crashed in a near head-on collision on Thursday night.

Tracy Renee Aold, 40, was riding her YZ85 Yamaha dirt bike in one direction while Michael David Aold II, 36, was riding a Yamaha Banshee ATV in the opposite direction on a rural two-lane road in Brooksville, Florida.

The crash took place around 9.35pm on Hayman Road east of Deepwell Drive, near their home, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both riders were thrown from their vehicles and died at the scene.

Neither of them were wearing a helmet, the Tampa Bay Times reported, but the street light was functioning as well.

According to Tracy's brother, the couple's relationship was on the rocks and they were headed for a split and they had been fighting before the crash.

A text Tracy sent another family member implied her husband had left the home earlier in the night without her after the fight, leading her brother to speculate she may have headed out on her dirt bike to find him when they crashed.

Tracey, who has two older daughters from a previous marriage, was remembered fondly as a 'joy to know' by her colleagues at the local court, where she was a mortgage specialist, on Friday.

His family refused to comment.

Deputies are awaiting toxicology reports.
