High Bail For Manchester Man Jonathan Perfetto Charged With Child Porn
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- High cash bail was set Wednesday for a convicted sex offender who was arrested after police said child poography was found on a computer he pawned.
Jonathan Perfetto was charged with five counts of possession of child poography. Police said pictures were discovered on a laptop computer he bought at a Manchester pawn shop and then sold back to the shop a few weeks later.
The pawn shop owner said he examines all the merchandise before putting it on the shelf, and that he was shocked by what he found. In court, the judge said the pictures included images of very young children involved in sexual acts.
According to court paperwork, Perfetto admitted to police that the computer belonged to him and that he was the only user. He said he didn't have Inteet service, so he used public places, such as the libraries in Manchester, to get online.
Perfetto didn't say anything in court. In the past, he has spoken to News 9 when he was living in a Concord parking garage. He also went to the state Supreme Court asking to be allowed to attend church around children, but he was denied.
Perfetto was previously convicted of 61 counts of possession of child poography and went to prison.
Prosecutors asked for and were granted $100,000 cash-only bail. Officer Steve Mangone said authorities were hoping to send a message with the high bail.
"We very rarely ask for a bail of that amount, but we felt this was serious enough to take that step and ask for it," he said.
Perfetto is scheduled to retu to court on Jan. 20.
