Hackers target Trump campaign

According to a report published by the Washington Post, Russian govement hackers have penetrated the Democratic National Committee’s database and stole its opposition research on Donald Trump.

The hackers, which were expelled from the system this past weekend, had been in the DNC system for a year and were able to read all email and chats in the compromised system, reports the New York Post.

DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz says that the party has been trying to “quickly” resolve the issue. She said in a statement that “The security of our system is critical to our operation and to the confidence of campaigns and state parties we work with… our team moved as quickly as possible to kick out the intruders and secure our network.”

The hackers also targeted Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Trump’s campaign and various political committees. It is unclear whether they were successful in any other attack.
