Florida Woman Crystal Rusaw left her three kids home alone to have sex with neighbor; kids wander to highway

A mother from New Port Richey, Florida has been arrested for child neglect after leaving her three young children at home alone while she went to a neighbour's house for sex.

Crystal Rusaw's children, who range in age from four to just 10 months, were found trying to cross a nearby highway after wandering out of the house.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said a witness telephoned the police after seeing the little group walking alone. The 10-month old baby was wearing a urine-soaked nappy.

Rusaw, 24, told officers she had left her children home alone while she enjoyed a tryst with a neighbour, and then fell asleep at his house.

Another neighbour, Joan Miller, was moved almost to tears by the saga, saying, 'It could have been tragic. It's just unbelievable.'  

Others told ABC Action News they were unsurprised, as they see the children playing in the street unattended 'all the time'.   

'I just see toys, and little kids always running and walking, and riding bicycles unsupervised down the street,' said local resident William Gray.  

The three children are now staying with relatives.

Rusaw has been bailed out of jail, but faces three counts of child neglect.

Her boyfriend, who was out of town all of last week, told reporters he heard about the incident from a news station when he retued.
