Escaped Convict Willie Wright Captured At Hospital
DETROIT -- The Wayne County sheriff's office said that a county inmate who escaped custody on Tuesday outside a Detroit hospital was captured at the same hospital on Wednesday .
The sheriff's office said inmate Willie Wright got free outside Harper Hospital just after noon on Tuesday.
However, after more than a day of searching the area, he was found inside the same hospital by staff.
The sheriff's office said Wright was not at the hospital over night, but he had retued on Wednesday for pain medication. A female hospital employee recognized Wright and pointed him in the wrong direction on purpose when he asked her where the exit is.
She notified security of where Wright was in the hospital and guards caught up to him. He was arrested without incident, police said.
Wright had his green inmate pants on, but no longer had his leg shackles.
Inmate's Escape, Ensuing Search
Undersheriff Daniel Pfannes said Wright was not handcuffed on Tuesday because he was being treated for a wrist injury, but was in dark green inmate garb with leg shackles.
Wright escaped during a struggle with Wayne County sheriff's deputies who used pepper spray on the 6-foot-5, 270-pound man.
Acting on a tip, authorities searched two vacant houses near McNichols and Strathmoor Wednesday afteoon, but Wright was not there.

Pfannes said Wright has several friends and family members in the area and had issued a waing for anyone who might have been helping to hide Wright.
"If you're involved in this, there are serious criminal consequences. You could be prosecuted for a number of felonies," Pfannes said. "Please, don't be misguided in what you're doing. This man is a dangerous individual. Justice needs to be served."
Pfannes said Wright was in custody after being convicted of charges related to criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to murder and firearm possession. He said Write is awaiting sentencing for raping his ex-girlfriend, then shooting her in the head.
A $2,500 reward had been offered for information that lead to Wright's capture.
