Elderly Woman Accidentally Shot at Trendy Restaurant Raffa

HOUSTON - Houston police were called to a trendy restaurant in Kingwood after an elderly woman was accidentally shot.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Raffa’s restaurant on 1660 West Lake Houston Parkway at Magnolia Cove Drive.

According to police at the scene, a patron in the restaurant was carrying a pistol when it accidentally fell out of his pocket and discharged, hitting an elderly woman in the hip.

The restaurant’s owner told FOX 26 everyone got quiet after the shot was fired, and that’s when they heard the victim say she couldn’t move.

The woman was transported to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

The patron who dropped the gun has a Concealed Handgun License. Police say the incident was an accident, and no charges will be filed. Investigators are confident the gun was discharged when it struck the ground.

They say the gun was a two-shot Derringer, which has a history of easily being discharged. In 2008, a Virginia man was charged with ‘reckless carrying of a weapon’ when his gun went off in a store.
