Couple Lester and Petra Huffmire kept children locked in a filthy trailer while they played World of Warcraft
An unemployed couple from Califoia have been sentenced to jail for keeping their two young female relatives locked inside a filthy trailer home for three years as they were busy playing video games.
Lester Huffmire, 42, was sentenced Tuesday to five years in a state prison after pleading guilty to child abuse and false imprisonment.
His wife, Petra huffmire, also age 42, was handed a jail term of three years and four months on similar charges.
According to a statement released by the Orange County District Attoey’s Office, the family including a 5-year-old and a 10-year-old lived in horrendous conditions.
The Huffmires' 'unsanitary' mobile home in Anaheim featured kitchen appliances covered in mold and cobwebs; broken toilets; mounds of refuse; feces, and a pile of used condoms under a stuffed teddy bear.
Investigators said Lester and Petra Huffmire did not have jobs and spent their days playing the online video game World of Warcraft.
The husband and wife kept the two girls living with them locked inside the trailer at all times, preventing them from attending school.
According to prosecutors, the girls called the grimy camper ‘home’ from May 2010 until May 2013.
Anaheim police responded to the trailer last spring acting on a tip from a conceed neighbor.
An officer who entered the ‘uninhabitable’ residence found the girls living with the Huffmires underfed, with dirty matted hair, feet caked with grime and their teeth rotted beyond repair.
