California man Clarence Dear accused of burning a woman alive on Christmas Day
A MAN in the US is being held on a $1 million bail after he was accused of allegedly dousing a woman in fuel and setting her on fire on Christmas Day.
Police in southe Califoia arrested Clarence Dear, 51, while he was riding a bus in Altadena, Califoia.
Investigators allege Dear was having an argument with Dawn Hensley, 41, while at a home in Pomona.
Dear allegedly chased her from their home, doused her with gasoline and ignited it, Fox News reports.
He is alleged to have possibly using a lit cigarette to start the fire.
Hensley ran and collapsed in the street after she was set on fire.
While locals tried to help her, she later died in hospital.
“It was very horrific what happened. It stunned everyone,” one anonymous neighbour told KTTV.
“I saw a person on fire.”
Neighbour Perry Sanford knew the pair for a little more than a year.
“Wow, you’d never think this guy was, wow” he said.
“It really screwed everyone up when it went down.”
