Beverly Carter missing: Strange texts sent from Arkansas woman’s phone
CARL Carter knew something was wrong when his real estate agent wife didn’t retu from showing an unknown would-be buyer a property near their Arkansas home after three hours.
After he received a series of text messages that were ‘completely out of character’ from his wife, things started to get weird.
It’s now been more than three days and 51-year-old Beverly Carter still hasn’t been seen, NY Daily News reports.
Beverly’s family has issued a desperate plea to find the mother-of-one, and hundreds of volunteers have tued out to find her.
Mr Carter reported his wife missing after she had gone to show a house at around 5.30pm last Thursday.
After more than three hours of no contact he went to the home she was showing to find his wife’s car with her purse inside it, and the house left open.
Mr Carter was already conceed, but a string of strange messages received in the early hours of Friday moing really caused him to panic.
“All of a sudden I received three texts in a row,” he told local station THV11.
“One said, ‘Yes’, then she sent another that said, ‘My phone’s low. The battery’s down, and I’ll call you whenever I get signal.’ ... And, then, straight back-to-back, I received a text that said, ‘Oh, I’m out drinking with some friends.’”
The last message confirmed to Carl that something weird was going on. His wife of 35 years is ‘not a drinker’.
The search for Beverly Carter has now entered its third day and investigators are yet to find any sign of her — the weird text messages the only clues.
More than 250 volunteers have tued out to search for the missing woman and helicopters have been deployed to look for clues.
The local sheriff’s office has requested landowners in the farming area search their properties.
“It’s a vast amount of acreage,” Lt. Carl Minden of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office told the local TV station.
“There’s a lot of farm land, swamp. There’s a lot of waterways.”
A Facebook page has been set up to assist with the investigation of Mrs Carter’s mysterious disappearance.
“Please, I beg you, pray for her safe retu,” Beverly’s son Carl wrote on Facebook.
“Not just because she’s my mom, but because she’s a wonderful light of a woman that is so worth fighting for.”
